The pads have been put to the test for their first week and have just had their first wash. Now is the time for the review! Strap in – it’s a long one, but well worth the read.

I bought the ‘Heavier Trial Pack’. I’m not exactly the heaviest bleeder in the world, but I like the security of a longer pad. As a seasoned reusable wearer, I know what I like, what I don’t like and what does and doesn’t work for me.

In comparison with other reusable pads, (usually made from lower quality fabrics), these pads are amazingly priced! I have paid anywhere in the region of £5-12 per pad for others. These, if anything, are at the lower end of the scale that I would expect to pay for items made of such high quality fabrics.

As soon as I received the order, I knew these were going to be the only pads for me, from now on. Even the Mega Mega Pad (the most heavy pad in the WEO collection) felt light, and as if they’d be nice and airy – perfect for hotter weather.

Once I tried them out, for the first time, all of my thoughts were confirmed. These pads are amazing. One of my biggest gripes about pads, when they’re shorter, is the irritating edge, right where I don’t want it to be. However, I was actually blown away – I popped it in position and it was like some kind of wizardry. The pad felt like it had disappeared – it was just so comfortable.

One other thing that concerns me is the use of poppers to fasten the pads. I can tell you – these poppers felt invisible. To really test the fastening of the WEO pads, I popped one on and left it all day. It did not move from where it was supposed to be, at all. The poppers held it in place so securely and the poppers went completely unnoticed.

I washed as I wore, with soap and water in the sink and air dried. Then, at the end of my period, the night before their full wash in the machine, I soaked in a bucket of cold water overnight. I don’t actually think that the soak was necessary. I only did this, as I have always had to previously. They have dried relatively quickly and are ready again for my next cycle!

Knowing that I am helping the environment (and exactly how much, thanks to the WEO posts with the stats) and knowing that I am not putting any awful chemicals down there, in one of the most sensitive parts of my body, brings me such a feel good factor.

I genuinely cannot say anything other than praise for Lauren and her pads. I have actually gone on to order another 9! Thank you Lauren – Wear ‘Em Out pads are now the only ones for me!

    No regrets
I did washable nappies with all of my daughters (6 long years!) and until recently couldn’t quite bear the thought of reusable pads but I’m so glad we made the change and now my girls have too. They are comfy, absorbent, easy to use and wash. Thank you so much!

Washing and Care Instructions

Wear ’em Out Reusable Period Pads

Be sure to give your pads a good rinse in cold water when you take them off to minimise staining, whilst our fabric is stain resistant, it can still happen (the Light Grey option is more likely to show stains if this bothers you, maybe stick to our Navy pads).
When you’re ready to wash your pads, you can wash them by hand (throw them in the shower with you for ease) or you can throw them in with the rest of your laundry (up to 40°C). Your usual detergent will be fine, but don’t use fabric softener, as this will affect the pads’ absorbency.

Top Tip – If you want to tackle any stains naturally, 4 tbs of bicarbonate of soda mixed with 60ml of cold water make a great stain removing paste, rinse stain in cold water to remove blood, apply the paste and leave to it work for 3 hours, then wash as normal. We recommend that your pads are put through a washing machine cycle at the end of your period, then flattened out to dry.

To dry them, we recommend hanging them up to air-dry, hanging them in an airing cupboard is fine if you have one, but don’t put them on direct heat or into a tumble dryer as this may cause shrinkage.

Wear ’em Out Bags

Our bags can be washed in the same way as our reusable pads, throw them in the same wash as your pads at the end of your cycle or at any time.
