The longevity of Wear ‘em Out reusable period pads varies from customer to customer.
We’re sorry if this seems ambiguous babes. But it’s a little like answering the question ‘how long is a piece of string?’! For example, if you buy 12 pads and use them in rotation, they’ll probably last longer than if you buy 6.
We tend to say that if you have a stock of 12 pads, and follow our care advice, they should last up to 4 years. But there are some contributing factors to take into account…
We make our pads to last
We were shocked and appalled when we learnt a single disposable pad or tampon takes longer to degrade than the lifespan of the person who wore it. In fact, it can take up to 800 years.
So, we made it our goal to produce the best eco-friendly alternative on the planet.
We did 10 months of researching, sourcing material and testing our pads before launching. Our pads are produced in the UK and made of breathable fabric with double-binding edges. All with no single-use plastic or nasty chemicals.

Purpose and frequency
How long your pads last will depend on how you use them, and how frequently.
If you are using our pads for menstrual bleeding then your flow, how long your period lasts and if you’re using them combined with any other menstrual products will all have an impact.
Our pads are also perfect for bladder leaks, and non-period days when you just want to feel a little fresher. But if you are using our pads for a lightweight daily liner it may be that you need to replace them more often. Or have a bigger stock. It may be that you’re using our pads post-birth, as our maximum Mega-Mega Flo pad and Mega Flo pad are the perfect combo for heavy bleeding. But after birth, as you return to your usual monthly flow, you may find that you do not need the Mega’s as often, meaning that they last longer.
You may need fewer pads than you think
Our customers often tell us that they change our pads less than they would a disposable. This is because they are more absorbent and don’t irritate or smell bad. Furthermore, we get messages almost daily from our customers telling us they experience fewer heavy bleeds, less cramping, shorter cycle and a generally better period overall.
