Endometriosis sufferer? 87.5% say reusable pads help with painmanagement

If you’re an endometriosis sufferer, we’re here for you. And we know that it’s not an easy ride.

Endometriosis affects around 1 in ten women and people that period, that’s over 176 million people worldwide¹ . Endometriosis is where the tissue, similar to the lining of the womb, grows in other places such as the ovaries and fallopian tubes². Known to cause lower tummy or pelvic pain, sickness, constipation, and cause fertility problems, the chronic pain can be hugely debilitating for those who suffer and can significantly impact the day-to-day life of many.

On top of all that, endometriosis can also cause heavy periods with severe bleeding and clotting making it really difficult to manage and feel comfortable during that time of the month. It probably also means changing pads much more frequently and worries about leaking. We hear you.

We’re here to offer you a tiny glimmer of hope. In a recent survey conducted by Wear ‘Em Out, 87.5% of endometriosis sufferers said that reusable pads help them with the pain and blood loss of endometriosis. Now we can’t promise to take the pain away completely, although we wish we could, these results show that our pads can help to make things a little bit comfortable for you.

Wear 'em Out reusable Period Sanitary Pads

You’re probably wondering why this is. We’re no scientists but we suspect it has something to do with the way our pads are made. Unlike disposable sanitary products, our pads contain no harmful chemicals or toxins, making them as kind to our bodies as they are to the planet.

When we did our survey, lots of you asked whether our pads were good enough to cope with the heavy bleeding caused by endometriosis. We know that our pads are super absorbent and perform much better than the disposables on the market. But don’t just take our word for it. Ruth Corden (yes, she is James’ sister) has been suffering with endometriosis for years. She shares her experience of using Wear ‘Em Out pads with us:

“I suffer from Endometriosis and have done for a number of years. My periods are heavy, clot filling, deep red blood heavy. I have had days when I used single use pads that I felt like I was either stuffing 3 in my pants or changing it every 1/2 an hour. Don’t even get me started on night-time flow.

“Then I found Wear Em Out pads and I have been so impressed. It took me a while to take the plunge and buy some but I’m so pleased I did. My period smells less, the amount the pads can hold is staggering and the pain I feel each month has, dare I say it improved. I’m so pleased I made the switch and will never go back to single use pads.”

*Sally from Brighton also suffers from endometriosis and says that Wear ‘Em Out pads “make my awful periods just that bit better. My pain has reduced slightly and the absorption is so superior to disposals.”

*Katy from London agrees. They said: “Endometriosis and Wear ‘Em Out pads are a match made in heaven.” Katy says they are a familiar friend amidst the hell that is perimenopausal unpredictability and endometriosis.
